Hosted at St. John Brebeuf Parish\, the event offered a joyful space for connection\, storytelling\, and shared faith. \n🌟 ESCC’s Role and Leadership\nThe English Speaking Catholic Council (ESCC) was proud to host and lead this meaningful initiative\, bringing together parishioners for an afternoon of fellowship\, service\, and heartfelt dialogue. As part of our renewed commitment to grassroots engagement\, the Council welcomed participants\, facilitated conversations\, and created space to honour the lived experiences of our elders. This gathering exemplifies our mission to foster unity\, inclusion\, and collaborative action across Montreal’s English-speaking Catholic community. \n🎉 Event Highlights\nAttendance: 66 seniors from across Montreal’s English-speaking Catholic community \nActivities: \n\nOpening prayer and welcome\nStorytelling\, questions and queries\nShared meal and fellowship\nHalf and Half contest\nClosing blessing and invitation to future gatherings\n\nAtmosphere: Warm\, inclusive\, and deeply affirming — many participants expressed joy and gratitude. \n💬 Reflections from Participants\n“I felt seen today. It’s been a long time since I’ve had this kind of joy.”\n“The ESCC being here means a lot. It shows we’re not forgotten.”\n“I met someone today who lives nearby — we’re already planning to meet again.” \n🤝 Impact and Next Steps\nThis event was a powerful reminder that breaking isolation begins with presence\, listening\, and shared joy. Based on feedback and momentum\, the ESCC proposes: \n\nMonthly senior socials hosted in partnership with local parishes\nTransportation support for those with mobility challenges – Catholic Action\nIntergenerational programming to foster deeper bonds\nVolunteer training in pastoral accompaniment and hospitality – SASMAD\n\n🙏 Gratitude\nDeep thanks to the volunteers\, parish staff\, and community partners who made this event possible. Special appreciation to St. John Brebeuf Parish (Lorraine and team) for its hospitality and to all who helped create a space of welcome and renewal.
